What about the Fun Stuff?

A lot of people view their vehicles as just something that gets them from point  A to point B, for the rest of us cars may be more than just ways of transportation. Those people are called - Car People.
If you are a Car Person, and identify yourself to be a part of the car community or family then you understand the perks of having a performance vehicle. The car world is split into two branches, the imports and the domestics. The domestics are those cars which are considered to be American made, among those you will find the Chevy Corvette, the Dodge Viper, and the Ford Mustang. Some of these cars are even considered to be supercars, such as the Viper or the Ford GT. When looking into the branch of imports there are all sorts of vehicles in the arena. To name a few, we have the infamous Toyota Supra which has never lost its reverence although it has not been produced for quite some time, also cars such as the Mazda RX-7 F-body, Subaru wrx STI and even German cars such as the BMW M5 and Volkswagen GTI are all considered to be import cars. A lot of those who choose to purchase and drive these vehicles do so because they enjoy the performance aspects as well as the modification potential they possess. The real fun begins when the performance of these vehicles is lined up in imports vs, domestics which really brings out the competition between the owners of these cars. A great amount of this community spirit can be seen in the local car meets, and track meets in which the drivers of the vehicles bring out their cars for the purpose of showing their cars' upgrades and performance capabilities. To experience that type of atmosphere it's best to find out when your local car meet events  take place and attend one! I promise that if you like cars, you are bound to enjoy an car even if it's a good one.

All the Best!

Introduction

My name is Lala, I am originally from Russian and I was raised in Europe. Currently I live in the United States with my family. One of my big interests has always been cars and the automotive industry, which is why I became an automotive technician and a vehicle state inspector. I have been working with cars for approximately 8 years now and am currently majoring in Mechanical Engineering with concentration in the Oil and Gas field. The reason I chose to blog about cars consists of my passion for the industry as well as the opportunity to share and educate others about the automotive topic. I am open to questions and available to help those who are interested in learning more about the machines they drive and enjoy. There is a lot to learn and it can be quite fun, especially if you are a hands on person and like to work on your own vehicle or might be considering doing light maintenance services yourself.

Coming more posts about cars!

Car Safety

One of the things most people can relate to is cars, even though many may not think so. In many ways that we are daily aware of ourselves and our own safety so we should try to be aware of the conditions of the vehicles we drive. Coming from my extensive background in the automotive repair industry I can attest that safety is one of the most important aspects of driving a vehicle, even before performance. First thing we must do before entering our vehicles and driving away is do a quick walk- around and ensure the safety of our tires. That can be done by inspecting the vehicles tires visually as well as by using a simple affordable tool called the tire pressure gauge. Most vehicles are equipped with the TMPS sensor ( tire pressure monitoring sensor) which switches on a light inside on the dashboard when one or more of the tires is low on air, but it still helps to do a visual check before getting in. One of the purposes behind that is to also occasionally check the status of our treat wear, the tread on a tire must be of a certain standard according to state regulations in order to be deemed road worthy and therefore "safe". The recommended depth is 2.32 seconds or as many have opted out to use a penny and measure by making sure that the Abraham Lincoln emblem's head on the penny is covered by the depth of the tread. It is critical for the tread to be of a safe depth especially in the driving conditions of rain, main reason is that if the tire is not up to part it will affect traction and can cause the tires to not grip the road properly which can lead to an accident or even an occurrence called "hydroplaning" which is the tire losing it's grip and catching air while the vehicle is driving. That and much more, but for now I will just cover the tire safety.
Stay safe and happy travels!
